Recreating My Favourite Hairstyles from the Oscars 2018

I love watching the Oscars and this years 90th Academy Awards in particular seemed extra special, the room was filled with beauty in every direction and inspiration coming from all corners. This is the first Oscar Academy Awards since #TimesUp and #MeToo became a household name. The movement was still strong throughout the evening with spectacular power of support from men and women.

Everyone looked impeccable on the night, Jennifer Lawrence and Margot Robbie stood out to me with Jennifer’s fierce locks and Margot’s freshly cut body wave bob. Inspired by these hairstyles I’ve recreated them with a twist.

So i hope you like them!

Jennifer Lawrence Inspired Hairstyle

Jennifer Lawrence’s hair looked fierce at this years oscars, it was a beautiful on trend 80’s inspired look, with effortless glamorous waves.

I used flat iron GHD stylers to recreate this style by using an alternating technique of S shaped flat waves and a rounder larger curl. Jennifer sported a middle parting but as hair is all about suitability i opted for a slightly off centre parting as it works best on me.

  • I started by sectioning off my hair with a pintail comb in a horseshoe section, then securing it with a sectioning clip.
  • My first square section of hair is about an inch thick, i start with my S shape technique. Insert the flat irons at the roots.
  • Begin by Bending one way and then the other the whole way down the hair strand, I started by bending forward to create more volume at the roots.
  • My second section was my rounder curl, starting at the roots and twisting 360* at the roots and then traveling down the hair.
  • Repeating this throughout the whole hair, shake hands through to loosen up the curls.

Margot’s on trend relaxed glamour look is 90’s inspired style really worked hard for her on the night… my hair is obviously around 8-10inches longer than Margot Robbie’s sassy new haircut, but i still decided to go with the recreation as i think it works on all hair lengths.

GHD stylers were my tool of choice, i styled the roots smooth and flat and used a Body Wave technique on the mid-lengths and ends. I then used a dry texture spray on the ends of my hair to add separation for a more relaxed style.

  • I started by sectioning off my hair with a pintail comb in a horseshoe section.
  • My first square section of hair is about an inch thick, i start with a body wave technique. Insert the flat irons at the roots.
  • Create large bends in the hair using a flat iron, once you get to the ends of your hair bend under to soften edges.
  • Focus more on the front than the back.
  • I Used a texturising sea salt spray to add separation and then Moroccan oil to separate the ends.
