Olaplex is on everyones lips, celebrities are raving about it, hairdressers swear by it, but why? what does it actually do? and is it the cure of all hairstylists nightmare problems?
I’m a newbie to this product and within one use on my own hair i could feel an instant difference. I had been debating on purchasing the Olaplex salon kit for a while but in all honesty i’m not completely sure why. Perhaps the price?
I would say it is an investment purchase which is why i think it took me until recently to jump on the band wagon, but i truly believe in this product an believe it is an investment worth making!
So…How does it work?
This is not a conditioning treatment, it is a bond repairing system which permanently rebuilds the damaged disulphide bonds in your hair that are broken during the chemical process (e.g. colouring, lightening, toning… etc). If you’ve over-bleached or over coloured your hair like me over the years, then Olaplex allows you to rebuild the strength, structure and integrity of your hair. Basically a ‘reset’ for your locks. Pretty amazing!
In other words it can work as an insurance for your hair but…Just because you are using Olaplex doesn’t mean you should push your hair beyond its naturally lifting process, think of Olaplex as more of a saviour and protector whilst your hair is being pre-lightened (bleached) or coloured.
I would still recommend using a salon trustworthy shampoo and conditioner and a nourishing mask to coincide with using Olaplex as this will help seal the deal in the ultimate hair care for you, besides why invest so much into your hair with great colour and amazing Olaplex if your not going to maintain it?

Who Is It For? How Does It Work?
Literally Everyone! Olaplex can be used in all colour brands and all colour services as a magic component. It can even be used as separate treatment for your hair between services for extra nutrition and protection. For maximum results it works in 3 stages, heres how..
- Olaplex No.1 is applied into the colour service beginning the rebuilding process. This concentrated first salon step rebuilds broken disulfide bonds and begins the process of preventing damage and repairing hair.
- The second step using Olaplex No.2 continues to rebuild and restore any remaining broken bonds ensuring the strongest, shiniest, and healthiest hair possible.
- No.3 is a optional home treatment to pro-long this process for use in-between salon services. Which can truly give the ultimate result.
Celebrities that swear by Olaplex
Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize theron and Emily Blunt.
I hope this has helped you decide if you want to make the Olaplex jump, i’m sure to say you won’t regret it. Perhaps start with Olaplex No.3 to help with your decision.
